WHAT's THE RIGHT CLASS FOR MY CHILd?
2’s Class – Children in this class must turn 2 on or before August 15th of the
enrolling school year. Children are not required to be potty trained and will nap in
this class. The focus is on adjusting to a school environment while working on
language development, social development and beginning school skills.
Young 3’s Class – Children in this class are 2 years at the time of enrollment
and will turn 3 by December 31 st or have special permission by the Director.
Children are not required to be potty trained and will have a rest period in this
class. The focus is on beginning school skills and exposure to SMA academic
and Bible curriculum.
3’s Class – Children in this class must turn 3 on or before August 15th. Children
are not required to be toilet trained. Diapers and pull-ups are acceptable.
Children should be in the process of toilet training, with the anticipation of being
toilet trained during the school year. This class will have a rest period, not a full
nap. The focus is on school skills and exposure to SMA academic and Bible
curriculum.
4’s Class – This class is designed for older 3’s, younger 4’s or those who will not
be attending Kindergarten the following year. Children in this class must turn 4
on or before December 31st or have special permission by the director. Children
must be fully toilet trained and able to use the toilet unassisted. There is no rest
period in this class. The focus is on mastery of the SMA academic and Bible
curriculum and preparation for Pre-K skills.
Pre-K Class – This class is for those children who will attend Kindergarten the
following school year. Children in this class must turn 4 on or before August 15th.
***SMA follows the Williamson County Kindergarten eligibility or “cut-off” date of
August 15 th for entry into kindergarten. Students must be fully toilet trained with
the ability to go to the restroom independently. There is no rest period in this
class. The focus is on kindergarten readiness and mastery of SMA preschool
skills.
Kindergarten Enrichment – This class is designed for children that are
registered as a Kindergarten Homeschool student. Proof of registration and
curriculum being taught is required. This enrichment class is intended to add to
the Kindergarten course work being taught in the home and give students the
ability to learn in a group/classroom setting. Students must be fully toilet trained
and will not take a rest period in this class. The completion of records, grades
and assessments is the responsibility of the parent(s).
Class Sizes
2’s Class – Max class size is 10 students. For classes with 6-10 students, there will be 2 teacher in the classroom. For classes with 5 or less students, 1 teacher will be placed in the classroom.
Young 3’s – Max class size is 12 students. For classes with 6-12 students, there will be 2 teachers in the classroom. For classes with 5 or less students, 1 teacher will be placed in the classroom.
3’s and 4’s Class – Max class size is 12 students. For classes with 7-12 students, there will be 2 teachers in the classroom. For classes with 6 or less students, 1 teacher will be placed in the classroom.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Enrichment Class – Max class size is 14 students. For classes with 9-14 students, there will be 2 teachers in the classroom. For classes with 8 or less students, 1 teacher will be placed in the classroom.
* Kindergarten Enrichment must have 8 students enrolled for the class to move forward. If 8 studentsare not enrolled by May, SMA has the right to dissolve the class and refund all enrollment fees. The MW class must fill to 14 before a TTH class will be considered.
* The SMA Director will place students in the appropriate class based on the age and number of students enrolled. Parents will be notified of student’s final placement in August.
